Random Rant Thursday on Tuesday: Captcha

Yea yea, I'm on the wrong day of the week but so what! I needed to speak! Okay, so until I finally made the switch to the new blogger interface, and found out that Captcha was still enabled on my page! Ugh! Who would'a thought that you needed to change them both. It just makes sense that if u make changes on the old interface that it will also change on the new interface too. Guess that's too much common sense.
Anywho, I switched it so can someone please comment on this post and let me know if it requires the whole capcha thing still? I hate it when I post on other people's comments so I'm sure other people hate it when they comment on mine.
Why on earth does it even exist. It's such a pain!

Review: The Turning Tides by Derrolyn Anderson

Book: The Turning Tides
By: Derrolyn Anderson
Publication Date: March 11, 2012
Publisher: Self Published:

Description: Marina has been through a lot in the past year; she knows what she wants, and she decides to take matters into her own hands to get it. When a twist of fate takes her away from Aptos, she returns to find that her whole world has changed once again. A fortune teller’s ominous prediction seems to be coming true, people around her aren’t who they appear to be, and to top it all off, she’s being followed again.
Marina and Ethan only want to be together, but find they are being torn apart by their very natures. Can they overcome a final obstacle to build the future they dream of?

My Thoughts: Why oh why does this series have to be over???

Okay, so usually self published books get a bad reputation. People think the books suck and have bad grammar or something, but that hasn't been my experience with this series at all. Yes, there is a grammatical mistake maybe once or twice, but you also see those in major publishers books so it really doesn't matter. Besides, books with major publishers tend to suck sometimes, so I say, self publish or agent, I'll give it a try. I am so glad I gave this series a try. Like I said in some of my other reviews, this was my first mermaid book, and I loved every minute of it. There's just something about a book that affects you so completely that you spend time trying to figure out the best way to see if you may be a mermaid. (I wont go as far as drowning myself to see if I turn though.) It made me want to try my hand at surfing, and swimming, and all that wonderful stuff that Marina does. Oh well, we can't all be supernatural creatures....

This book picked up right after the last book. I hate spoilers of previous books so I will try not to give them. Ethan and Marina are still going strong and she's still not as trusting as she should be, but I dont blame her for it. It's hard to burden others with your problems. Marina's a bit naive, as I tend to be, so she finds herself, once again, trying to figure out why someone keeps following her when she visits the mermaids. She gets herself in all sorts of slippery situations (get it? Because she's a mermaid. HA! I just crack myself up.) and I really thought that this would be the time it all goes downhill for her but luckily it didnt because I love Derrolyn's sweet endings. Oh and I love me some Ethan. If only fictional characters could be real........ This was a great ending to the series that had me hooked from the first page.

That said, there was something I didnt like. At times, I just wanted to slap Marina. She made mistakes she should have fixed a long time ago and I got annoyed that she kept doing them. She argues with Ethan at one point and it just gets worse and worse and the way it all happens annoys me so much. Probably because it reminded me of the way things happen in real life and I didn't want real life, I wanted fairy tale. (Yea I know...that's my problem)

I'm so sad this series is over. I loved it and I will read them over and over. If there's anyone out there that know's how, please, oh please tell me how I can become a mermaid? The Rating I give for this book? 4.5 Stars.

Review: Clockwork Prince by Cassandra Clare

Book: Clockwork Prince
By: Cassandra Clare
Publisher: Margaret K. McElderry Books
Publication Date: December 6, 2011

Description: In the magical underworld of Victorian London, Tessa Gray has at last found safety with the Shadowhunters. But that safety proves fleeting when rogue forces in the Clave plot to see her protector, Charlotte, replaced as head of the Institute. If Charlotte loses her position, Tessa will be out on the street—and easy prey for the mysterious Magister, who wants to use Tessa’s powers for his own dark ends.
With the help of the handsome, self-destructive Will and the fiercely devoted Jem, Tessa discovers that the Magister’s war on the Shadowhunters is deeply personal. He blames them for a long-ago tragedy that shattered his life. To unravel the secrets of the past, the trio journeys from mist-shrouded Yorkshire to a manor house that holds untold horrors, from the slums of London to an enchanted ballroom where Tessa discovers that the truth of her parentage is more sinister than she had imagined. When they encounter a clockwork demon bearing a warning for Will, they realize that the Magister himself knows their every move—and that one of their own has betrayed them.
Tessa finds her heart drawn more and more to Jem, though her longing for Will, despite his dark moods, continues to unsettle her. But something is changing in Will—the wall he has built around himself is crumbling. Could finding the Magister free Will from his secrets and give Tessa the answers about who she is and what she was born to do?
As their dangerous search for the Magister and the truth leads the friends into peril, Tessa learns that when love and lies are mixed, they can corrupt even the purest heart.

My Thoughts: I wanted to absolutely love this book. I really did, but something just didnt overcome the typical second book nature. I read everyone else's reviews and expected to be blown away, but I wasnt. I preferred to sleep instead of read a few more pages at night. I wasnt lost in the pages like I wanted. I didnt find myself thinking about reading it at random parts of the day. I often found that I preferred watching tv for some reason, even though I had ample time to read. There were so many things that frustrated me in this book.I wasnt understanding how Tessa's mind worked, or Will's and started feeling like things just happened without me understanding the progression of events. Tessabegan to annoy me at times and I'm still not quite sure why. Maybe because I'm so Team Will (Dont get me wrong, I like Jem, but he's just not the one for me) and I want her to be with him and follow her heart and all those good things but the events just prevent it. I do want to mention that there were parts of this book I loved. The action and the suspense, the twists and turns were great. Oh and the makeout scenes had me hoping I hadn't chosen to read a young adult book. Nonetheless, this book just didnt have what it took to make me feel like I was reading the best book ever. For that reason, I give it 3 stars.

Marina's Tales Book 4 Release-Free Book 1 Download

I've said it before and I'll say it over and over. I love the Marina's tales series. It's so sweet and great and fun and interesting. I've been un-patiently waiting for the release of the final book, and it finally has! Look at the pretty cover:
Description: Marina has been through a lot in the past year, but she knows what she wants, and she decides to take matters into her own hands to get it.

To celebrate the release of this book, The Author is offering all my followers a FREE DOWNLOAD of the first book, Between the Land and the Sea.

Description: Marina is a privileged girl who’s had an unusual upbringing. Traveling the world with her scientist father, doted on by her wealthy and glamorous neighbor Evie, Marina’s life seems perfect.
Everything changes in the summer of her sixteenth year when she is sent to live with her Aunt Abby and Cousin Cruz in the lovely seaside town of Aptos, California.
Only a few weeks after arriving, sixteen year-old Marina has nearly drowned twice, enchanted the hottest guy in high school, and discovered a supernatural creature. If she can manage to survive some increasingly dangerous encounters with unpredictable mermaids, she might be able to unlock the mystery of her past and appease the mysterious forces that want something from her...
And maybe even find true love along the way

Interested? Just go here and use the Smashwords code FM28V and the book it yours in any format you like. Trust me, you want to try this series. Besides, if for some reason you dont like it, it's free so there's no loss!!!

Cover Reveal!!! Darkhouse by Karina Halle - Free Kindle Download!!!

Hey Everyone!!! I'm super Excited because guess what??? One of my favorite series, The Experiment in Terror Series, is getting a face lift. Well, only the first book is, but thats still awesome right? The book that started it all, Darkhouse, is getting a new cover and will be re-edited!!! If you dont remember the old cover, here it is:
It's not a bad cover. Somewhat mysterious and ominous. Obviously a scary book. But I must say it looks a little old. I'll admit that if this book was on the shelves as I was walking down the aisle, I'd probably pass right by it, only to miss out on the awesomeness!!! It just doesn't jump out at you and say "READ ME!!" That's probably why most of you have still not read it yet. Karina Halle, the author, wanted something more youthful and dynamic. Check out the new cover!!!!
(Cover Designed by Bret Taylor)
Tell me that isn't nice? I dare you!!! It's a lot younger and more creepy if you ask me, just like the book. If I were to see this cover, I;d definitely stop. I love the clouds and tPerry standing and looking at the lighthouse/darkhouse. Its just 100% better than the last cover, and it fits so well with the book. Oh yea, and did I mention that Kindle downloads for Darkhouse are free today to celebrate? Click here if you're interested. If you'd like to see my review for Darkhouse, click here.
